Re: Streams for Werder Bremen

Bilic was certainly found wanting at times last season. Tactically he was woeful at times and the motivation of the players right up until the Arsenal game looked shot (not to mention the apparent lack of fitness)
But in the same way I expect some players to improve on last season I'm hoping to see more from the manager also - there was fight in the side towards the end of last year, and with better players at his disposal you'd like to think we can perform to a better standard than last season.
That said, if this turns out not to be the case, the time to judge that is how we perform throughout the season - not in a meaningless kickabout in which the best XI doesn't play and there are wholesale changing part way through the match.

While it might be true that you can't conclude much from pre-season, that looked remarkably similar to a lot of what we've seen from WHU under Bilic in the past, albeit with more possession.
I'll support him for as long as he's here, but I said it on here last season, I'll never warm to him. The way his sides play just doesn't feel like West Ham to me and I suspect I'm not alone.

Is it me or have most of the 'I love Slav' bods on here mainly disappeared??
Let's make one thing clear, this fella is very limited at this level. Period. Last season our defense and defensive midfield were a complete joke, will that change by signing a couple of forward players?? Think about it. Sir Alf rightly made this point earlier.
I'd be amazed if he sees the season out, the guy seemingly doesn't have a clue. There seems to be no style of play, no system, it's like out you go and give it your best. Clueless.

That has just made me remember how terrible Bilic is. So cumbersome and predictable. Doesn't matter who we buy with this clown in charge.

Only saw about half of that but Rice really looks like a player. He would make an excellent ball-playing CB but it's interesting that he was given a DM role today - he looked very accomplished there and was always looking to break forward. I wonder if the management have been having the same thoughts as many on here about the current inadequacy of that position. Early days but I hope the experiment continues.
Biggest negative for me was Ayew - what an utter waste of space.

I hope to god Snodgrass finds another club soon. Ayew is another we should look to replace. I don't think Bilic is improving at all in setting up a team and making astute changes during a game. We definitely miss Antonio and desperately need to add to Hernandez in the striking department. I can't really see us improving much in last season's final league position to be brutally honest. I wouldn't mind that if we played attractive football, but we are far from entertaining in the world of superslav's coaching manual.

Only pre season but clear that we need more reinforcements up front and midfield. We need pace and still lack it up front and midfield. We cannot open up teams with a slow build up passing back and forth looking for openings as you need forwards and wide players with real pace to get in those channels. Even with the new recruits we will continue to struggle against better teams until we get another striker with pace and central midfielder. IMHO.
With Fletcher and Feghouli about to go , we are getting near break even on fees arent we? 2Bobs better start investing in a few more or our progress will be limited at best this season.

Our main goal threat will come from Hernandez, Antonio, Lanzini & (if he ever plays) Carroll. How did they play?

Crossing and shooting from distance.
Two things we no longer believe in it seems. Forward play is poor because we don't want the wide forwards to be anywhere near the byline, only the full backs. Makes it slow and all too predictable.

I thought Arnie went off on the hour mark, until I saw him lying on the ground with 5 mins to go. We got screwd over paying £20m for Ayew.
Positives? some of the younger guys looked useful, likes of Cullen, Holland in particular.
